T & R's Kitchen Table

My Uncle Tony is an artist who I went to stay with in January 2009. He suggested I try oil pastels on coloured paper. This seemed like a sound suggestion. So every day, during my three day visit, I did an A5 sketch.

Day 1: The Kitchen Table (above) A5 oil pastel on paper.

Day 2: Reading the paper in the comfy chair.

Day 3: Looking into the kitchen, from the sitting area.

for some reason, I've always loved rooms. It almost makes me feel like an uninvited guests peeking into the lives of others. These are wonderful

Thanks for the comments. Daler Rowney do coloured pastel papers with a slight texture which these were made on.

Hi Luke, thanks for linking me. I will link you as well. I like to explore artists blogs and see what they post about and paint/draw. I really like your oil pastels. I've used that and I like it well. I too feel like I am looking into someone's house and I shouldn't be doing that. It's that your work is great and I will need to backtrack and check out some of your other work. Thanks ever so much for stopping by my blog and please comment when next you do. It's always nice with exchanges. Take care.

Am I way off base here or does something about these pictures remind you of Van Gogh?

There is something there for me.

Bravo Luke! I love the blast of colors and I'm with Sheila on loving paintings with scenes of rooms. I have a particular fondness for them.

Luke,
I adore these pieces- there is something which draws me into the spaces in a special way--- which I find only with the use of colored pastels- fun and inviting!Like the sidewalk pastels of a favorite childhood movie- Thanks for this gift!!! keep us posted!
